As someone with a neurologically divergent brain, I appreciate the growing awareness of mental health and treatment because it can improve your life significantly. As Mental Health Awareness Month ends this week, let's explore the mental health market and celebrate the reduction of stigma around it.
Market | Mental health will reach $537 billion by 2030 with a 3.5% CAGR. New and innovative solutions are needed for the 25% of the 8 billion global population with mental disorders. Opportunities include developing tech to deliver mental health services, increasing access to care in underserved communities, developing new treatments for mental health disorders, and raising awareness of mental health issues and treatment. These solutions can improve millions of lives and make investors and founders a lot of money. Note: Headspace, Talkspace, and Calm reached billion-dollar valuations and were acquired by Spotify, Peloton, and Northwell Health, respectively.
Stigma | Mental disorder diagnoses are rising, but mental health and treatment stigma is falling. The American Psychological Association survey found that 62% of Americans do not believe that people with mental illness should be discriminated against in the workplace, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness survey found that 67% believe that people with mental illness can live full and productive lives.
If you think you need mental health help, get it. If you're a founder creating mental health solutions, submit to ganas.vc for investment consideration.
